Geek Uninstaller: Remove Windows Apps

By on June 22, 2016 0

The last version from Geek Uninstaller, a third-party solution for Windows to remove installed software, supports the removal of Windows applications.

Geek Uninstaller is one of the few programs that you can use as an alternative to Windows built-in uninstaller.

Just like Revo Uninstaller and others, it not only supports removing programs but also searching for leftovers so that traces left on the device after uninstallation are also removed.

Geek Uninstaller’s most recent update, version 1.4.0.82, introduced support for Windows Store apps in the desktop program.

Delete Windows apps

Geek Uninstaller does not merge Windows apps and desktop programs list, which means it keeps separate lists for desktop programs and Windows Store apps.

Select View > Windows Store apps to switch the list to apps installed from the store. Geek Uninstaller lists apps with their name, size, and installation date.

Deleting the app is simple

  1. Right-click on any app in the list and select uninstall from the context menu that opens.
  2. Geek Uninstaller removes the application from the system and then displays the remaining prompt.
  3. This prompt lists app-related registry entries that you can also remove.

Geek Uninstaller supports removing system apps. It is important to note that you may experience issues restoring deleted system apps. If you delete the Store application for example, you will no longer be able to use the Store and will no longer be able to download the application.

This leaves PowerShell as an option to restore deleted Windows apps.

Apart from uninstalling Windows apps outright, you can also use other features provided by Geek Uninstaller.

The context menu gives you options to open the application folder on the local drive or access the applications registry entry instead.

Other than that, you can also open it on Windows Store using Geek Uninstaller – provided you haven’t deleted the Store app – or run basic Google searches for the name of the app or the parent company.

Closing words

Windows 10 users can remove most system apps by right-clicking the listing in the Start menu. While it’s convenient, Geek Uninstaller improves the process, especially when it comes to removing multiple apps.

You can select multiple apps at once in the program to uninstall them all in one quick operation. This means you can even select them all to remove all installed Windows applications in one operation.
